Aussiedoodle
Aussiedoodles, also known by the name Aussie Poos, are a cross breed between Australian Shepherd and Poodle. They are not as well known as the Labradoodle or the Goldendoodle, but they are becoming a more popular designer dog in recent years.
Both the Poodle and the Australian Shepherd are known to be working dogs with the Aussie being a herding dog. Both breeds are incredibly intelligent, loyal, hypoallergenic, and non-shedding. The Aussiedoodle also comes in three sizes; toy, miniature and standard depending upon the size of the Poodle. There are different types of Aussiedoodle which will affect the type of coat, shedding and hypoallergenics. An F1 doodle will have wavy hair and may have some shedding. There is also F1b, F2b as well as multigeneration doodles. It is wise to research which puppy will be good for you.
These dogs are especially good for service/therapy work due to their intelligence and adaptability. They are good with other dogs, cats and children with proper socialization training. The Aussiedoodle has a wide variety of looks as an adult, all the puppies are unique in their appearance. It is common for the coat appearance to change as the puppy ages depending upon if they carry the “color changing gene.”
Characteristics of the temperament of this cross breed are intelligence, engergetic, playful, loving and devoted. They truly are the best of both breeds. Due to their energy level they will need regular exercise, toys and activities that will stimulate their minds.
When choosing your puppy it is imperative to assure the parents are healthy and the puppies have been handled and socialized. This socialization should continue after you bring your puppy home. Responsible breeding will result in a happy, healthy puppy.
